OORMAS, an autonomous body under the aegis of Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Dept of Government of Odisha steering sustainable livelihoods projects for rural producers since 1991 under different poverty alleviation programs of the Govt. Multi-ferious strategic intervention of ORMAS in livelihoods has brought perceptible changes in rural Odisha. ORMAS has worked with Women Self Help Groups at grassroots for their product aggregation, value additions and marketing. Since 2010,ORMAS has been the nodal agency for implementation of Govt. of India’s placement linked skill development programs for rural youth under Aajeevika Skill Development Programme (ASDP) presently, named Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY). Focus has been on providing sustainable employment, post placement tracking, retention and carrier progression. The Odisha model of implementation of this skill development training has drawn huge commendation from MoRD Govt. of India and they have suggested other states to follow the Odisha Model.
ORMAS has partnered with 80 Project Implementing Agencies to setup training centers, build skill and provide secure jobs for the rural youth. This has harnessed the untapped potentials of rural youth of Odisha by making them industry ready.
